阿祖萨「Peak Fire」烧至22英亩 疏散令生效 直升机投水护房

Peak Fire in Azusa Grows to 22 Acres; Evacuation Order in Effect as Helicopters Drop Water to Protect Homes
AZUSA — A brush fire broke out on the afternoon of October 15 in the foothills north of San Gabriel Canyon Road in Azusa, Los Angeles County, and was named the Peak Fire. According to the Cal Fire incident page, the fire started north of San Gabriel Canyon Road and Mirador Drive, on slopes above homes near Foxtail Court and Poppyglen Court, with a reported start time of 1:43 p.m.
Driven by wind, the fire grew quickly. Cal Fire reported 15 acres with a moderate rate of spread at 1:47 p.m.; by 1:54 p.m. it had reached 20 acres with structures threatened, and at 2:02 p.m. it was updated to 22 acres. As of Cal Fire's 2:21 p.m. page update, no containment figure had been announced. The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service's Angeles National Forest are fighting the fire under unified command, with water-dropping helicopters working overhead and ground crews protecting homes north of San Gabriel Canyon Road. The cause remains under investigation.
On evacuations, the Azusa Police Department issued an alert through AlertLACounty at 1:40 p.m. telling residents in the Roberts and San Gabriel Canyon area to leave immediately. Cal Fire confirmed at 1:49 p.m. that an evacuation order covers zone AZU-MC01, with the alert in effect until 5:40 p.m. At 2:06 p.m., evacuation warnings were updated to eight zones: AZU-ABC01, AZU-CYN01-A, AZU-NOB01, AZU-QRY01, LAC-E168-A, LAC-E168-B, LAC-E170-A and LAC-E170-B. An evacuation shelter opened at 2:19 p.m. at 340 N Orange Ave in Azusa. As of publication, officials had reported no injuries and no structures damaged.
The fire erupted amid Santa Ana winds and a Red Flag Warning that the National Weather Service keeps in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday, with mountain gusts up to 75 mph and humidity in the single digits. To reduce the risk of power lines sparking new fires, Southern California Edison has carried out Public Safety Power Shutoffs for thousands of Los Angeles County customers, with tens of thousands more facing possible shutoffs. Elsewhere in the county on Thursday, a roughly one-acre brush fire in Tujunga was stopped at 1:23 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department said, with no structures threatened and no injuries reported.
