Trump Closes Out His Midterm Rally Tour With Final Stops in Dubuque and Salina

President Donald Trump closed out his in-person midterm campaign tour on Sunday, November 1, with two rallies in one day: a speech of nearly two hours at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa, followed by a rally outside a hangar at Salina Regional Airport in Salina, Kansas. According to the Topeka Capital-Journal's live coverage, the Salina stop was Trump's 30th and final in-person rally of the 2026 midterm cycle. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when control of both chambers of Congress will be decided.

In Dubuque, Trump campaigned for Republican Senate candidate Ashley Hinson, calling her phenomenal and predicting a much bigger win for Republicans on Tuesday. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn, both seeking re-election, also took the stage. Hinson's Democratic opponent is state Representative Josh Turek. Dozens of protesters stood outside the venue, and protesters inside were chanted down and escorted out three times.

In Salina, Air Force One flew over the airport before landing, and Trump took the stage at 8:22 p.m. ET, speaking for nearly an hour and a half to a crowd of around two thousand before finishing at 9:48 p.m. He said Salina was his 30th and final in-person rally of the cycle and that he had come to make sure Senator Roger Marshall got elected. Marshall thanked him on stage, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum also addressed the crowd. Trump also backed gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson and Attorney General Kris Kobach, who is seeking re-election.

Trump repeated his campaign pledge that if Republicans win the House and the Senate, he will give every adult U.S. citizen $5,000, saying the roughly $1 trillion cost could be covered by the wealth the country is taking in, provided the money is spent in the United States. He asked Kansans to pretend he was on the ballot and to get out and vote. Marshall faces Democratic pastor Adam Hamilton in Kansas. According to Reuters, more than 52 million Americans have already voted early, a midterm record.

The two rallies had a turbulent rollout: the Republican National Committee announced on October 29 that the weekend in-person rallies in Iowa and Kansas were canceled in favor of tele-rallies, then restored them less than 24 hours later, and Trump completed both stops as rescheduled on the final Sunday before Election Day.
