Victorville Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder After Wife Fatally Shot and Stepson Wounded
VICTORVILLE — The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said deputies from the Victorville Station responded at 8:17 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, to the 14000 block of Hopland Street in Victorville for a reported assault with a firearm. A 19-year-old man called Sheriff's Dispatch and reported that his stepfather, Samuel Alfred Tomasello, had shot him and his mother, Denise Stovall.
Upon arrival, deputies made announcements for the occupants to exit the home. The 19-year-old victim exited and was found to have a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Tomasello, 41, exited and was detained without incident. Deputies entered the residence and located Denise Stovall, 39, suffering from gunshot wounds, and immediately initiated lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived. Fire department personnel transported both victims to the hospital, where Stovall was later pronounced deceased. The 19-year-old victim was treated at the hospital and later released.
The Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail assumed the investigation. After an extensive investigation, detectives arrested Tomasello on suspicion of murder under California Penal Code Section 187(A). He remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center. The case is DR# 172613702, H# 2026-091.
