Follow-Up: Asian Glow Fest Draws Crowds on Opening Day in Lake Elsinore; Lantern Release Lights the Lake Ahead of Sunday Finale

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — Lake Elsinore is a city in Riverside County, California. The two-day Asian Glow Fest — Water Lanterns & Kite Festival opened on Saturday, October 17, at Elm Grove Beach. In same-day footage posted by the organizers, crowds moved through the lakeside vendor area throughout the day, lining up at Asian food, dessert and craft stalls. A giant illuminated blue dragon lantern stood at the center of the grounds and became the most photographed spot after dark, while kites flew over the lake toward sunset.

After nightfall, the festival's centerpiece — the water lantern release — went ahead as scheduled. Participants set square paper lanterns inscribed with wishes and drawings onto the water, and hundreds of glowing lanterns drifted across the lake in front of Elm Grove Beach as families lined the shore to watch and take photos. The lanterns use battery-powered LED lights with no open flame, and the event team retrieves them from the water afterward.

The festival concludes on Sunday, October 18, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with free admission for all ages. Lanterns are available separately at $20 each, and the release takes place after dark; check the organizers' account @AsianglowfestCA for the day's exact timing.
