杰弗里斯正式宣布竞选众议院议长：称报复与弹劾特朗普不是民主党的优先事项

美国众议院民主党领袖 Hakeem Jeffries 11月4日致函全体民主党众议员（「致同僚信」），正式宣布竞选众议院议长。新一届国会定于明年1月3日开幕，届时众议院全体会议将投票选举议长；杰弗里斯若当选，将成为众议院第57任议长，也是美国历史上首位黑人议长。

杰弗里斯当天还在电视节目中表示，民主党不会把报复特朗普、弹劾特朗普列为优先事项，新多数党的工作重心是降低民众生活成本。他说，民主党将聚焦医疗、食品等基本开支问题。据多家美国媒体报道，众议院民主党的新会期议程包括在头100天内推动取消关税、恢复被削减的医疗补贴与食品援助拨款。

领导层其他位置也在同步排定：Katherine Clark 正争取党鞭职位，Pete Aguilar 争取党团主席职位，两人分别是民主党在众议院的第二号与第三号人物人选。

Jeffries Formally Announces Speaker Bid, Says Retaliation and Impeaching Trump Are Not Priorities

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries formally announced his candidacy for Speaker of the House on Wednesday, November 4, in a "Dear Colleague" letter to fellow Democrats. The full House will elect its speaker when the new Congress convenes on January 3; if elected, Jeffries would become the 57th Speaker and the first Black Speaker in American history.

Appearing on television the same day, Jeffries said Democrats will not make retaliation against President Donald Trump, or impeaching him, a priority, and that the new majority will focus on the cost of living, including health care and food costs. US media reported that the House Democratic agenda for the new session includes a 100-day push to eliminate tariffs and restore funding for health-care subsidies and food assistance.

The rest of the leadership slate is also taking shape: Katherine Clark is seeking the whip's post and Pete Aguilar the caucus chairmanship, the party's No. 2 and No. 3 positions in the House.
