In the legislature, incumbent state Rep. Rob Beiswenger won about 61% of the vote against independent Heather Lewis in District 8, which spans Boise, Custer, Elmore and Valley counties, taking 11,636 votes to Lewis's 7,523. Voters in Cascade, in Valley County, also approved a five-year renewal of the local option tax and agreed to adjust how it is levied.
A separate measure passed in neighboring Adams County: voters in Meadows Valley approved, with nearly 69% and 633 votes in favor, a proposal to replace the existing ambulance district with a new one, along with school funding measures.
