Flyysoulja Says an Overdose Sent Him to a Trauma Unit: Arrested on a $75 Theft Charge the Day He Was Released

Flyysoulja, a member of the Florida internet rap duo Island Boys, told TMZ that on October 29, while celebrating his purchase of a new condominium and a car, he overdosed after mixing cocaine, benzodiazepines and the painkiller Percocet and was rushed to a Miami trauma unit. He said he spent four days in the hospital, underwent an involuntary mental health evaluation under Florida's Baker Act during the stay, and was released on November 2. Also on November 2, he was arrested in Broward County on a petty theft charge.

According to Local 10, which cited jail records and a Hallandale Beach police report, police accuse him of stealing merchandise worth $75.45 in total from a Walgreens on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard on March 20, including Aquaphor ointment, therapy cream, a razor, Vaseline and lotion. The report says surveillance video showed him hiding goods in his pants, watching for staff and leaving without paying, then driving away in a black 2021 BMW; a witness recognized him from the Island Boys and identified him from a photo, and police later obtained an arrest warrant. He had posted bond but, according to the station, was still at the Broward County Main Jail as of the morning of November 3. The theft account above is a police allegation; the case has not been tried in court.

Flyysoulja told TMZ he has a years-long history of substance use and had stopped using drugs for a period before this overdose. The amounts he took and the details of his treatment have not been made public, and his medical records have not been released; GSM presents the overdose account here as his own account. He said that during the hospital stay he was placed under an involuntary mental health evaluation under the Baker Act, a Florida law that allows such an examination when legal criteria are met; the examination period is generally 72 hours, and together with the initial emergency care his stay lasted four days.

It was not his first Baker Act evaluation. In November 2025, he was taken for a mental health evaluation after a drug-induced episode at his Miami-area home; he later said on Instagram Live that he had damaged parts of the home while unknowingly broadcasting live. In January 2026, he told TMZ he planned to enter detox and rehabilitation and wanted to become a better father. It is not clear whether he completed that program or whether new treatment has been arranged after this release.

The Island Boys are the Venegas twins: Alex performs as Flyysoulja and his twin brother Franky Venegas performs as Kodiyakredd. Based in the Coral Springs, Florida area, the brothers broke through in 2021 when their improvised poolside performance of 'I'm an Island Boy' spread across TikTok. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that stimulants and depressants taken together do not cancel each other out, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cautions that taking opioids together with benzodiazepines can dangerously slow breathing.
