San Bernardino County Facilities to Glow Green November 4-11 in Operation Green Light for Veterans
Several San Bernardino County facilities in California, including the County Government Center, will be illuminated green from November 4 to 11 as part of the nationwide Operation Green Light for Veterans, honoring veterans ahead of Veterans Day on November 11. San Bernardino County announced the plan in its county update published on September 24.
The campaign is led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). The county says Operation Green Light raises awareness of the service and sacrifices of the nation's service members and reminds veterans and their families that benefits, resources and assistance are available in their communities.
The county Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution in 2024 declaring that San Bernardino County will take part in Operation Green Light every year during the week of November 4 to 11 leading up to Veterans Day. The county's Veterans Affairs office provides benefits assistance and other services to local veterans year-round.
Military.com reported on November 2 that county buildings, landmarks and private facilities across the country will join this year's Operation Green Light, and that NACo's goal is participation by all 3,069 counties in the United States. In Southern California, Los Angeles County is also taking part: its Department of Public Social Services will hold a green-lighting ceremony at its headquarters on November 5.
