旧金山市长签署法案：Compton咖啡馆历史地标范围扩至101 Taylor街整栋建筑
加利福尼亚州旧金山市市长Daniel Lurie 10月30日签署法案，将Compton咖啡馆骚乱旧址的地标认定范围扩大至整栋建筑：位于Turk街与Taylor街交口的101 Taylor街整栋楼被纳入地标保护，历史意义时期也从单一年份扩展为约十年（1960年代中期至1970年代中期）。
该法案由市议员Bilal Mahmood提出。2022年，旧金山已将该路口与建筑外观列为地方地标；2025年，该遗址列入《国家历史地点名录》。此次扩围后，整栋建筑的高度、形状、装饰、屋顶线、立面、灰泥、店面与入口等要素均受保存规范约束。
1966年，位于此地的Compton咖啡馆发生跨性别女性与警察的冲突事件，比纽约石墙事件早三年，被视为美国跨性别平权运动的重要起点之一。该建筑所在的Tenderloin街区是全美首个跨性别历史文化区的所在地。
市府表示，扩大地标认定有助于完整保存这段民权历史，并为旧址未来的纪念与教育用途提供制度保障。
Mayor Lurie Signs Legislation Expanding Landmark at Site of Historic Compton's Cafeteria Riot
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie signed legislation on October 30 expanding the landmark designation at the site of the Compton's Cafeteria riot to the entire building at 101 Taylor Street, at Turk and Taylor, in San Francisco, California. The period of significance was also broadened from a single year to roughly a decade, from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s.
The legislation was authored by Supervisor Bilal Mahmood. In 2022 the city designated the intersection and the building's exterior as a local landmark, and in 2025 the site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Under the expansion, the whole building's height, shape, ornaments, roofline, facade, stucco, storefront and entrance are covered by preservation requirements.
In 1966, transgender women at the cafeteria resisted a police raid at the site, three years before New York's Stonewall uprising, an event regarded as a milestone of the transgender rights movement. The building stands in the Tenderloin, home to the nation's first transgender historic district.
City officials said the expanded designation will help preserve this civil-rights history in full and support future commemorative and educational uses of the site.
