Pintscher Conducts His Own Music and Copland's Third in San Diego on Feb. 20 and 21
The Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, hosts a San Diego Symphony Masterworks program on Feb. 20, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. German composer-conductor Matthias Pintscher leads his own Assonanza, Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot solos in Ravel's Tzigane, and Copland's Symphony No. 3 closes the program.
Pintscher, music director of the Kansas City Symphony, is among Europe's leading composer-conductors. Copland's Third, from 1946, folds his Fanfare for the Common Man into its finale and stands as a cornerstone of the American symphony. Ravel's Tzigane is a rhapsody for violin and orchestra that opens with a gypsy-style solo cadenza.
The venue is the Jacobs Music Center, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. Tickets are sold through the orchestra's official channels.
Founded in 1910, the San Diego Symphony is California's oldest orchestra, with 82 full-time musicians; its music and artistic director is Rafael Payare.
