Peter and the Wolf Tops San Diego Symphony's April 3 Concert for Toddlers
The Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, hosts Meet the Winds: Peter and the Wolf on April 3, 2027, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., two 30-minute performances closing this season's Symphony Kids series of the San Diego Symphony, designed for children ages 0 to 5.
Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, written in 1936, casts the flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon as a bird, a duck, a cat and a grandfather; it remains the classic first guide to the orchestra, and this concert uses it to introduce the wind section instrument by instrument. The sensory-friendly series was developed with San Diego State University's autism center, and children are free to move and make noise.
The season's earlier programs introduced the strings, brass and percussion in turn. The venue is the Jacobs Music Center, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. Tickets are sold through the orchestra's official channels.
Founded in 1910, the San Diego Symphony is California's oldest orchestra, with 82 full-time musicians.
