Beethoven Meets Coldplay in a Genre-Bending Concert in San Diego on April 9
The Jacobs Music Center in San Diego, San Diego County, California, hosts SYMPHONYFUSE: Beethoven X Coldplay on April 9, 2027, at 7:30 p.m. Conductor and creator Steve Hackman leads the San Diego Symphony and three vocalists in a work that weaves Beethoven's Eroica Symphony together with the songs of Coldplay into a single song-cycle, for one performance only.
Hackman's Beethoven X Coldplay sets the movements of the Eroica against Coldplay's melodies, superimposing the two so that a classical orchestra and pop songs share one harmonic frame. The mash-up format is his signature and has been performed by orchestras across the United States. It is one of the few pop-crossover programs in the San Diego Symphony's season.
The venue is the Jacobs Music Center, 1245 Seventh Ave, San Diego, CA 92101. Tickets are sold through the orchestra's official channels.
Founded in 1910, the San Diego Symphony is California's oldest orchestra, with 82 full-time musicians; its music and artistic director is Rafael Payare.
