$15 Million Fraud Lawsuit: Producer Timbaland Sues Two Former Managers, Alleging They Drained His Assets

Recording producer Timbaland (real name Timothy Mosley) filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court in California on October 30 against his former manager Gary Marella and former business manager Bruce Seckendorf, alleging years of fraud that drained his assets and seeking $15 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 65-page complaint also names Mono Music Group, LL Business Management and the accounting firm Seckendorf Hasson Reilly & Kobay CPA's. Marella is CEO of Mono Music Group; Seckendorf is a partner at LL Business Management. The claims include fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, civil theft, fraudulent concealment, breach of contract and misappropriation of name and likeness, and seek recovery of losses, an accounting, and an end to unauthorized use of Timbaland's name.

The suit alleges the two men 'used their entrusted authority to enrich themselves and others, conceal financial misconduct, and deplete Timbaland's valuable assets.' Marella allegedly took millions in unauthorized commissions, fees and reimbursements, used Timbaland's funds to pay his own employees, and falsified financial records and communications to conceal the payments.

On Timbaland's Verzuz series with Swizz Beatz, the suit says Marella took $500,000 more than he was entitled to on two separate occasions involving $5 million payments; on the 2019 sale of Timbaland's catalog to Hipgnosis Songs Fund, Marella allegedly took $775,000 beyond his allotted 10 percent commission. Beatclub, the beat marketplace the two co-founded, was allegedly mismanaged, with investor funds depleted and employees and creators left unpaid.

Seckendorf's side allegedly failed to pay substantial federal taxes on time, generating millions in penalties and interest, and failed to pay Timbaland's mortgage, leaving his home on the brink of foreclosure. The complaint says the defendants prioritized nearly $900,000 in payments to themselves and their attorneys over five months while twelve months of mortgage arrears went unpaid. Timbaland says he learned of the alleged misconduct after receiving a foreclosure notice at his home last year and hiring independent counsel and financial representatives.

The two began working with Timbaland in 2016 and were terminated in 2025. Neither Marella nor Seckendorf nor their firms immediately responded to The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment.
