Governor Newsom Announces Six Appointments on October 28 to the Veterinary, Behavioral Sciences, Podiatric and Naturopathic Boards
California Governor Gavin Newsom announced six appointments in Sacramento on October 28, covering four state boards: the California Veterinary Medical Board, the Board of Behavioral Sciences, the California Board of Podiatric Medicine, and the Board of Naturopathic Medicine. Each position pays $100 per diem.
Monica Revel, of West Hollywood, was appointed to the California Veterinary Medical Board. Revel has been a research veterinarian for AAV gene therapy for canine hemophilia since 2023 and has owned and served as medical director of West Hollywood Animal Hospital since 2012. She earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UC Davis. The position does not require Senate confirmation.
Lusero Arias, of Hayward, and Jeanette Horne, of Elk Grove, were appointed to the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Arias is the Victims Services Division Manager at the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office and previously held leadership roles at the San Francisco domestic-violence organization La Casa de las Madres; she earned a Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University. Horne is founder and managing partner of G.U.C.I. Money, LLC and Shorelake Home Partners, LLC, and has been an independent insurance agent since 2018. Both appointments require Senate confirmation.
Nancy Hoque, of Pleasanton, was appointed to the California Board of Podiatric Medicine. Hoque has been Director of Central Finance at Adobe Inc. since 2023, after roles at Symantec and Motorola Solutions, and earned an MBA from UC Berkeley. The position does not require Senate confirmation.
Diparshi Mukherjee, of Walnut Creek, and Minna Yoon, of San Francisco, were reappointed to the Board of Naturopathic Medicine, where they have served since 2022 and 2018 respectively. Mukherjee has been a physician at Kaiser Permanente since 2004. Yoon has been a naturopathic doctor and licensed acupuncturist at Bay Natural Medicine since 2008. Neither reappointment requires Senate confirmation.
