White House Releases New CEA Analysis: Manufacturing Jobs Up 72,000 in 2026, Blue-Collar Wages Outpace Inflation
WASHINGTON — The White House on October 22 released a new analysis summary citing the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), saying President Donald J. Trump's pro-growth policies are driving an American manufacturing resurgence, with wages rising faster than inflation, domestic manufacturing expanding, and blue-collar jobs returning to U.S. soil. The White House said the previous administration lost more than 200,000 manufacturing jobs in its final two years.
According to the figures released by the White House, manufacturing employment is up 72,000 in 2026, including a 101,000-job increase in durable goods. Since President Trump took office, construction employment has grown by 100,000, including more than 111,000 additional factory construction jobs. The White House said demand for factory construction workers is surging, hiring is rising, layoffs are down over the past year, and overtime pay is also up.
On wages, the White House said manufacturing wages are up $2,000 and construction wages $2,800 since President Trump took office, and that inflation-adjusted wages for blue-collar manufacturing workers have risen an average of $2,400 more per year, with construction workers' real wages up $3,800. It said U.S. business growth has reached its highest level in more than five years and American goods exports are on track for a record year.
The White House said the no-tax-on-overtime policy is letting workers keep more of what they earn, with more than 29 million Americans claiming the deduction this filing season. It said President Trump has secured trillions of dollars in investment commitments across the United States supporting domestic production, factory expansion and American jobs, and that the resurgence is strengthening America's position in critical industries including aerospace, aircraft equipment, metals, and natural gas and petroleum production, while small businesses and local economies are also feeling the benefits.
