Most Foreign Firms Placed Under Russian Temporary Administration Since January 2025 Are European, Not American: Reuters Review
MOSCOW — Of the 20 foreign companies Russian President Vladimir Putin has placed under temporary administration since January 2025, only three were US-linked while the rest were European, a Reuters review published on October 21 found. Russia recently took control of Swiss food group Nestlé's local unit and of the Russian units of France's Auchan and Germany's Metro. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has linked the measures to the countries' involvement in what Moscow calls illegal expropriations of Russian property. Under temporary administration, state-appointed managers run the businesses while legal ownership nominally remains with the original shareholders.
