Sibu Chinese Associations Present Sixth Secondary School Awards; Borneo Cultural Festival Photo and Video Contests Also Awarded
The scholarship and education-loan committee of the United Chinese Associations of Sibu presented its sixth secondary-school awards on the morning of Oct. 17 at the association's Evergreen Hall, honouring academically outstanding Chinese students; the ceremony also doubled as the awards presentation for the 2026 Borneo Cultural Festival's 'Chinese Cultural Splendour' on-the-spot photography and short-video contests. The United Chinese Associations of Sibu is the leading federation of Chinese associations in Sibu, Sarawak, and its scholarship arm has long supported Chinese students' education. The Borneo Cultural Festival is an annual cultural highlight of Sibu, and its Chinese-culture series encourages the public to record Chinese heritage through lenses and short videos. According to the federation's listings, several other Sibu associations have also opened applications for children's education awards, including the Sibu Chinese Teachers' Association and the Sibu Hinghua Pu Hsien Association, reflecting the Malaysian Chinese community's long-standing emphasis on education.
