Sacramento Boy Beats Leukemia and Celebrates Milestone at Light the Night
Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. A Sacramento family is celebrating a major milestone after their son, Marcel Bendorf, beat leukemia following more than two years of treatment, KCRA 3 reported on October 16. Marcel was just 7 years old when his life changed unexpectedly; he was on his way to the movies when symptoms first appeared, leading to his diagnosis.
Marcel's family marked his recovery at Light the Night, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk in which patients, survivors and supporters carry lanterns to honor cancer journeys, remember those lost and raise funds for research.
The celebration in Sacramento was featured in KCRA's October 16 coverage of the event. The report did not publish Marcel's current age or details of his follow-up care.
