Sacramento Republic Stadium Planned at 20,000-Plus Seats From Day One; 2028 Opening Targeted

Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. Sacramento soccer media summarized on October 14 that Sacramento Republic FC and Wilton Rancheria previously announced Republic Stadium in the Railyards district will be built in a single phase at more than 20,000 seats, and about 27,000 for events, replacing a plan to open at 12,000 seats and expand later.

The stadium is described in city documents as privately financed, with public money limited to tax-increment reimbursement of infrastructure and none for stadium-site construction. No official cost has been published: CBS Sacramento reported about $350 million without naming a source, Tribal Business News about $450 million citing unnamed reports, against a $175 million stadium line in the city's November 2024 term sheet.

A 2025 district expansion ended after a majority protest, the city restarted it in August 2026, and the club now targets a 2028 opening. Private financing terms and the public tax-increment layer remain open items.
