Fort Worth Officer Brian Gentry Dies After Medical Emergency on Duty
The Fort Worth Police Department in Texas announced on October 21 that Officer Brian Gentry suffered a medical emergency while on duty on October 20, was taken to a local hospital emergency room and later died in the intensive care unit on October 21, FOX 4 reported. Gentry had served with the Fort Worth Police Department since 2004 and was assigned to the department's Fugitive Unit as a U.S. Marshal's Task Force Officer. The department did not disclose the nature of the medical emergency.
Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia said in a statement that the loss of a member of the department is deeply personal, that Brian was one of their own, and that his passing will be felt by the many people who worked alongside him and called him a friend. The statement also expressed support for Gentry's family, loved ones and fellow officers. The department said funeral arrangements for Gentry will be shared at a later date.
