Contra Costa County, California, is hiring one Risk Manager - Workers' Compensation, with an annual salary of $133,967.47 to $162,838.27. The filing deadline has been extended to November 2, 2026, and applications are submitted through the county's GovernmentJobs page.
Reporting to the County Director of Risk Management, the position manages the county's self-insured, self-administered workers' compensation program and occupational return-to-work program; supervises the investigation and adjustment of workers' compensation claims; interprets California workers' compensation law to ensure compliance; serves as the primary contact for county departments and districts and for state and federal audits; develops and revises claims procedures; and maintains reserves, future cost projections and claims cost statistics.
Applicants must hold a California Self-Insurance Administrator's Certificate; a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance or a related field; and four years of full-time professional workers' compensation claims management experience, preferably with a public self-insured agency, including at least two years of supervisory experience. Selection is based on review of the application and supplemental questionnaire, with a training-and-experience evaluation weighted at 100%.
