Brunson Scores 18 Straight in Second Quarter, 31 Overall as Knicks Beat Cavaliers 109-97 for Third Straight Win
The New York Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-97 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland on Saturday night, November 7, for their third straight win. It was the first meeting between the teams since last season's Eastern Conference finals, which the Knicks swept.
Knicks guard Jalen Brunson scored 31 points with six rebounds and nine assists in 34 minutes. He scored 18 straight New York points during the second quarter, including three 3-pointers and a four-point play, as the defending champions took control. Karl-Anthony Towns added 29 points and 13 rebounds, and OG Anunoby scored 15. New York won the rebounding battle 49-40 and outscored Cleveland 26-8 in second-chance points.
Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 37 points, 21 of them in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits before New York closed it out. The Knicks improved to 5-4, having won five of their last six, while the Cavaliers fell to 5-5. New York hosts Milwaukee on Tuesday; Cleveland visits Charlotte on Monday.
