Serbian Bus Overturns on Croatia's A3 Motorway: 2 Killed, 33 Injured
ZAGREB — A bus with Serbian license plates skidded off Croatia's A3 motorway and overturned at about 7:25 a.m. on November 8, just past the Ivanic-Grad interchange at the 61st kilometre, while travelling toward Zagreb, Croatian police said. The bus broke through the guardrail and came to rest on the grass beside the road. There were 33 passengers and two drivers on board.
Croatia's health ministry said two people were killed and 33 injured, six of them seriously and 27 lightly; both drivers were among the injured. The injured were taken to five medical facilities in the Zagreb area. Nine emergency teams responded, including a helicopter medical unit. Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved and Health Minister Irena Hrstić went to the scene.
Serbian media said the bus was operated by Nis Ekspres. Serbia's embassy in Croatia said it was in contact with Croatian institutions. The identities and nationalities of the dead and injured have not yet been officially released, the cause of the crash has not been established, and police have opened an investigation. The A3 motorway runs from the Serbian border through Zagreb toward Slovenia and is one of the main corridors in the Balkans.
