波士顿洛根机场11月6日降雨2.64英寸破1966年纪录 东南部多地内涝车辆被困

MASSACHUSETTS — Southeastern Massachusetts was hit by heavy rain on the evening of November 6, with flooding in many areas and Boston Logan International Airport setting a daily rainfall record dating to 1966. According to storm reports from the National Weather Service's Boston/Norton office, Logan measured 2.64 inches of rain on November 6, breaking the old record of 1.58 inches set in 1966, at a station whose records go back to 1872. Providence also set a daily record the same day with 2.59 inches, while New Bedford's airport recorded 4.46 inches in a day — more than the city's entire average November rainfall.
The downpour caused serious flooding in New Bedford, where multiple cars were stranded under the Dean Street and Purchase Street overpasses, and a three-car crash occurred on the southbound side of Route 140. Forecasters issued flash flood warnings that evening for southeastern Bristol County and southern Plymouth County, in effect until 11:30 p.m. The Falmouth police station took on water, more than 1,100 customers lost power in Truro at one point, and roads were washed out in places including Provincetown and Bourne. The Weather Service had earlier posted a flood watch, expecting a general 2 to 4 inches across the southeast with local amounts of 5 to 6 inches, through 10 a.m. on November 7. Officials caution that while rain eases on Saturday, low-lying and poorly drained areas remain at risk of standing water, and drivers should not enter flooded roadways.
