COLORADO — Colorado voters passed Proposition 134 in this week's midterm elections, barring transgender students from school sports teams that match their gender identity; the measure takes effect January 1. It applies to public and private K-12 schools and colleges statewide, and the Colorado Department of Education will enforce it in public schools. The measure was championed by activist Jennifer Sey and others; supporters say it protects fairness in girls' sports, while opponents call it discriminatory toward transgender youth.
