位于静冈县御前崎市的滨冈核电站未发现异常。交通方面，东海道新干线静冈站至岐阜羽岛站区间一度减速运行，爱知县内部分普通铁路列车一度停运。日本政府已设立联络办公室统筹应对，气象厅提醒未来约一周内注意同等程度的摇晃。

Follow-Up: More Than 20 Injured in Magnitude 5.7 Quake in Western Shizuoka; Intensity Upper 5 Recorded in Chita, Aichi
Tokyo — More than 20 people were injured in a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that struck western Shizuoka Prefecture at 1:04 a.m. on November 8, Kyodo News reported. The injured were in Aichi and Shizuoka prefectures, some of them hurt in falls while evacuating. The Japan Meteorological Agency put the depth at about 40 kilometres and said there was no tsunami risk.
The strongest shaking, an upper 5 on Japan's seismic intensity scale, was recorded in Chita, Aichi Prefecture; Nagoya's fire department said 13 people were taken to hospital in that city alone. The agency said an upper 5 in Aichi was the first since a magnitude 5.9 quake in eastern Aichi in March 1997, about 30 years ago. It added that the quake originated inside the subducting Philippine Sea Plate, a different mechanism from a Nankai Trough plate-boundary megaquake, and that the possibility of a link to such a megaquake was "low."
No abnormalities were reported at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant in Omaezaki, Shizuoka. The Tokaido Shinkansen temporarily ran at reduced speed between Shizuoka and Gifu-Hashima stations, and some local rail services in Aichi were briefly suspended. The government set up a liaison office to coordinate the response, and the agency urged caution against further shaking of similar strength for about a week.
