'Ebenezer' Opens November 13: Depp Plays Scrooge in Ti West's New Dickens Adaptation
Paramount Pictures releases Ebenezer in North America on November 13. Adapted from Charles Dickens's 1843 novella A Christmas Carol and directed by horror filmmaker Ti West, it stars Johnny Depp as the miser Ebenezer Scrooge, with Ian McKellen, Daisy Ridley and Rupert Grint in the cast; it is rated PG-13.
In Victorian London, Scrooge is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and forced to confront a lifetime of coldness and greed. West, known for X and Pearl, directs a Christmas story for the first time, keeping Dickens's structure while leaning into the dread of the ghostly visits.
The film is the holiday season's early entry on the November 13 weekend, where long-range tracking pairs it with the action comedy How to Rob a Bank as the frame's two headline releases.
