Topeka Middle School Principal Arrested on Child Sex Crime Allegations, Faces Four Charges
TOPEKA, Kan. — Topeka police announced on the evening of November 5 that Todd W. Haag, 56, principal of Jardine Middle School, had been arrested on suspicion of multiple sex crimes against minors and booked into the Shawnee County jail.
Assistant Police Chief Jennifer Cross said the allegations comprise four charges: aggravated criminal sodomy, sexual exploitation of a child, indecent solicitation of a child and electronic solicitation of a child.
Topeka Public Schools' USD 501 district confirmed that Haag has been placed on administrative leave, with Angela Pomeroy and Kelly Soderlund temporarily overseeing Jardine Middle School and staff sent to the school to support students and teachers. Police have not released details of the case, including when the alleged conduct occurred or whether it involved students at the school.
Police asked anyone with information to email [email protected] or call 785-368-9400. Haag is presumed innocent until proven guilty. As of publication, the court had not announced a hearing date, and details of the formal charging documents had yet to be released.
