墨西哥总统辛鲍姆回应德州格兰德河九岛主张：这是选举议题，主权须由双边委员会定
墨西哥总统辛鲍姆（Claudia Sheinbaum）11月3日在晨间记者会上表示，德克萨斯州声称格兰德河（Rio Grande）九座河岛属于德州，是选举操作，德州无权单方面决定边境主权问题。
德州土地总局局长白金汉（Dawn Buckingham）10月27日称，经查历史记录与测量，九座河岛属于德克萨斯州。涉事岛屿是美方曾提出权属疑问的28座河岛中的九座。墨西哥外交部10月30日拒绝任何单方面改变边境的做法，援引1970年边界条约指出，国际边界以河流正常河道中心为界，每座岛屿归属只能由双边国际边界与水域委员会（CILA）判定。
辛鲍姆是在美国中期选举投票日发表上述谈话的。截至报道时，德州官员未对她的表态作出回应。

Mexico's Sheinbaum: Texas Claim to Nine Rio Grande Islands Is Electoral, Only Bilateral Commission Can Decide
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said at her morning press conference on November 3 that Texas's claim to nine islands in the Rio Grande is an electoral issue, and that Texas has no authority to settle questions of sovereignty on the border.
Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham said on October 27 that a review of historical records and surveys had confirmed the nine islands belong to the State of Texas. They are nine of 28 river islands whose ownership US Customs and Border Protection had previously questioned. Mexico's Foreign Ministry rejected any unilateral change on October 30, citing the 1970 Boundary Treaty, under which the line runs at the centre of the river's normal channel and only the International Boundary and Water Commission (CILA) can determine which side each island is on.
Sheinbaum spoke on the day of the US midterm elections. No response from Texas officials had been reported at the time of writing.
