On November 5, the Roku Original holiday romantic comedy Second Chance Holiday premiered free on The Roku Channel, and a clip of Ayesha Curry kissing her co-star Matthew Daddario was cut from the film and spread rapidly across X and other platforms. As some fans asked in the comments how her husband, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, felt about it, Ayesha Curry answered on X that morning: "It's not even real, you guys are annoying."
The film is Curry's first leading role in a feature. According to Roku's official synopsis, she plays Chelsey Banks, a dating expert determined to break her self-described curse of getting dumped every holiday season; back home, she is reunited with her high school flame, played by Daddario. The movie was directed by Maxwell McGuire, written by Erin Muroski and produced by Muse Entertainment.
Stephen Curry's public stance has been supportive throughout. When the trailer dropped in late October, he posted on X calling his wife "My Leading Lady," saying he had seen the work behind the scenes and that the world would now see her shine, and that this was just the beginning. On premiere day, the New York Post reported, he reposted Ayesha's Instagram promotion to his own Story with Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" playing over it, and Sportskeeda reported he also left a comment under the post saying he was proud of her.
Multiple reports note that the kiss is a scripted acting scene; there is no reporting that Stephen Curry objected to it, and no indication the clip has caused any problem in the couple's marriage. Ayesha Curry has said of the role that it was an honor to be part of Second Chance Holiday and that she hoped audiences would fall in love with Chelsey too.
