Pittsburgh's new fire chief Mat Davis sworn in after four months as acting chief
Pittsburgh's new fire chief, Mat Davis, was sworn in on the morning of November 5 in the City Council chambers, formally taking the permanent post. Davis was named by Mayor Corey O'Connor in early October after serving four months as acting chief.
He succeeds Darryl Jones, who retired earlier this year. Before Jones's departure, an internal review had examined his management of the bureau.
Davis's swearing-in completes the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire's leadership transition; he now oversees firefighting, emergency response and fire inspections citywide. (Source: City of Pittsburgh)
