Democrat Barringer defeats Rep. Knott by 7,652 votes in North Carolina's 13th District
With all 140 precincts reporting in North Carolina's 13th Congressional District, Democrat Paul Barringer defeated Republican incumbent Rep. Brad Knott, 159,981 votes (50.50%) to 152,329 (48.09%), a margin of 7,652 votes. Libertarian Steven Swinton took 4,479 votes (1.41%). The Associated Press has called the race for Barringer.
The totals remain unofficial: county canvasses are set for November 13 and the state canvass for November 24. The district curls around Wake County from Caswell County in the north down to Lee County.
