White House Posts Graphic Day After Midterms: Trump Is Still Your President

On Wednesday, November 4, the day after the midterm elections, the official White House account on X posted a graphic: a photograph of President Donald J. Trump looking into the camera, with bold text reading "PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT." The post itself carried only one line: "Thank you for your attention to this matter."

White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung amplified the message on social media, writing: "Donald J Trump is the President of the United States. Still your President!" The caption's sign-off, "thank you for your attention to this matter," is the same closing line President Trump regularly uses in his own posts.

The post came against the backdrop of the November 3 midterm elections, in which Democrats won back control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, ending the Republican majority in Congress. On election night, President Trump had already reacted through Truth Social posts and telephone interviews with CBS News and Fox News: he congratulated the Democrats, said he looked forward to working with them for the good of the country, argued that he had not been on the ballot, and stressed that the president holds veto power. The next-day White House post announced no new policy or personnel move; it was a single statement of position: a change in Congress does not change who holds the presidency or executive authority.
