西雅图消防局发布11月通讯：消防员与急救员招募11月17日截止，多场社区CPR课程排定

Seattle Fire's November Responder: Firefighter/EMT Applications Close November 17, Community CPR Classes Scheduled
The Seattle Fire Department, in King County, Washington, has published the November 2026 edition of its Seattle Responder newsletter, announcing that its annual application window for firefighter/EMT positions will close on November 17, alongside a schedule of community CPR classes and winter safety reminders.
Fire Chief Harold D. Scoggins wrote that the end of daylight saving time on November 1 is a reminder to test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, and that the department will share cooking and heating safety tips through the winter. Applicants can apply at SeattleFireJobs.com, and the department's Fire Connect Podcast series and hiring webinar offer resources on the process.
At the end of October, the department hosted three patient reunifications, at Stations 5 and 32 and at Harborview Medic One quarters, reuniting patients with the firefighters and medics who treated them. Its Medic 2 bystander CPR program will hold classes on November 7 at the Garfield Community Center, November 10 and 15 at department headquarters, November 28 at the Rainier Community Center and December 6 at the High Point Community Center. On December 5, from 2 to 4 p.m., stations across the city will host a Toys for Tots toy collection.
Significant October incidents included an October 7 carbon monoxide evacuation of a three-story apartment building in Lower Queen Anne, traced to a gas-powered pressure washer running in an enclosed garage, and an October 13 basement fire in the View Ridge neighborhood, ruled accidental and likely caused by a malfunctioning oil furnace. No injuries were reported in either incident. On October 6, Chief Scoggins promoted six members to new ranks at a headquarters ceremony.
The newsletter notes that Thanksgiving is the leading day for home cooking fires in the country, with unattended cooking the leading factor, and that heating-related fires are the second most common type in fall and winter; residents are urged to give heaters space and to test and replace carbon monoxide alarms after seven years.
