Packers QB Jordan Love and Wife Go Viral in Blind Referee Halloween Costumes: Fans Worry About an NFL Fine
A Halloween video of Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love and his wife, Ronika Stone Love, dressed as blind NFL referees has gone viral on social media. Ronika posted the clip to her own TikTok account with the caption \"I'm joking, I'm joking,\" and after accounts including Jomboy Media reposted it on November 4 it became a league-wide talking point, with Pro Football Network, ClutchPoints and other sports outlets following up the same day.
In the video, the couple wear black-and-white striped referee shirts and dark sunglasses, tap white canes as they stumble around their living room, bump into each other and fall to the floor, making sure to throw a yellow penalty flag as they go down. Responding to the growing attention in the comments, Ronika wrote: \"We're Footlocker employees.\"
Many fans laughed while worrying that Love could be fined. Comments included \"You're gonna get us fined,\" \"I can smell the fine coming\" and \"I really hope he doesn't get fined for this,\" while one supporter offered, \"I'll pay the fine.\" As of November 4, the NFL had not publicly addressed the video.
The costume refers to the Packers' 20-17 Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions. Referee Alex Moore's crew called eight penalties against Green Bay for 81 yards in that game, and the biggest flashpoint was the roughing-the-passer calls against defensive linemen Brenton Cox Jr. and Karl Brooks. Tom Brady, working the game in the FOX booth, said, \"That's definitely not roughing the passer!\" and former NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino backed that criticism. According to Pro Football Network, the league then reassigned Moore's crew away from the following week's primetime game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. SportsGossip reported that Packers safety Xavier McKinney was fined $25,000 after publicly criticizing the officiating following the game.
Love himself is in the middle of a career year: through eight games he leads the NFL with 2,246 passing yards and has thrown 16 touchdown passes. The Packers are 5-3.
