Former Hyattsville Police Officer Sentenced in Child Sex Abuse Case: 65-Year Term, 27 Years to Serve
The State's Attorney's Office for Prince George's County, Maryland, in Upper Marlboro announced on November 4, 2026, that Jonathan Monge, 38, a former City of Hyattsville police officer, has been sentenced to 65 years in prison, suspending all but 27 years, in a child sexual abuse case.
State's Attorney Tara H. Jackson said Monge was convicted by a jury of one count of sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of second-degree rape. In addition to the prison term, Monge must complete five years of supervised probation and register as a Tier III sex offender, which means he will remain on the registry for life.
The Office of the State's Attorney for Prince George's County is the county's primary law enforcement agency for prosecutions, tasked with safeguarding the rights and interests of county residents through the prosecution of a broad range of criminal cases and by protecting and supporting victims of crime.
