Hornets Rookie Kon Knueppel Makes Season Debut, Exits After About Six Minutes With Left Leg Soreness
The Charlotte Hornets, in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, welcomed back highly anticipated young shooter Kon Knueppel on November 4, and he made his season debut that night on the road against the Brooklyn Nets. According to postgame reports, Knueppel exited after about six minutes with soreness in his left leg, and the Hornets have not yet released a further evaluation of his condition.
Before the game, the team's injury report had listed Knueppel as probable. The No. 4 pick in the 2025 draft led the NBA in three-pointers made as a rookie while shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc, but a hamstring injury suffered ahead of training camp kept him out of Charlotte's first eight games of this season. After a lengthy rehab, he finally returned to the court.
Charlotte currently ranks last in the league in both field-goal percentage and points per game, and Knueppel's off-ball movement and outside shooting are exactly what the team has been missing. His health will directly affect the Hornets' perimeter offense, and the team is expected to update his status before its next game.
