马来西亚国家新闻社（Bernama）11月4日报道，美国驻东盟大使凯文·金（Kevin Kim）在吉隆坡表示，美国2027年与东盟的合作将聚焦数字经济与能源安全；2027年适逢美与东盟关系50周年、东盟成立60周年。东盟成立于1967年8月8日，现由文莱、柬埔寨、印度尼西亚、老挝、马来西亚、缅甸、菲律宾、新加坡、泰国、越南与东帝汶11个成员国组成。
凯文·金对马来西亚在地区安全中的持续角色表示乐观，称马来西亚将始终「在谈判桌上」，包括在南海议题的讨论中。他说，美方期待与马来西亚在这些议题上合作。
谈及去年柬埔寨与泰国冲突，凯文·金说，马来西亚在担任东盟轮值主席国期间、总理安瓦尔·易卜拉欣及其团队在促成历史性和平协议中发挥了关键作用：他们维系了东盟团结、推动对话，并展现了外交领导力，包括打造为双方提供透明与互信的东盟观察团。

Malaysia: US Ambassador to ASEAN Kevin Kim Says in Kuala Lumpur That US-ASEAN Engagement in 2027 Will Prioritise Digital Economy and Energy Security
The United States will focus on the digital economy and energy security in its engagement with ASEAN next year, as US-ASEAN ties mark five decades and the bloc celebrates its 60th anniversary, US Ambassador to ASEAN Kevin Kim said in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported on November 4. ASEAN was established on August 8, 1967 and comprises 11 member states: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Timor-Leste.
Kim expressed optimism regarding Malaysia's continued role in regional security, stating that the country will always be "at the table", including in discussions on South China Sea issues. "We look forward to partnering with Malaysia on these issues as well," he said.
Reflecting on Malaysia's role during the Cambodia-Thailand conflict last year, Kim said Malaysia, under its ASEAN chairmanship, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played a critical role in paving the way for a historic peace deal: Anwar and his team ensured ASEAN unity remained, facilitated dialogue especially during tough moments, and displayed diplomatic leadership in crafting the ASEAN observation team that provided transparency and mutual confidence between Thailand and Cambodia so tensions could be reduced.
