DALLAS, Texas, November 2 — Three shootings in Dallas's Deep Ellum district on Saturday night, October 31, left 4 people dead and 15 others injured, the deadliest single location in a Halloween weekend marked by shootings in several American cities. Police are investigating whether the three incidents are connected.
According to the Associated Press on November 1, Dallas police said the three shootings occurred over approximately 75 minutes; Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said police had increased their presence in the district beforehand and several people were subsequently arrested and were being interviewed, with police giving no numbers or charges, and investigators examining possible connections. Deep Ellum is known for its live music venues, restaurants and bars.
The Associated Press also reported shootings elsewhere over the same weekend, including Birmingham, Alabama; Newark, Delaware; Bloomington, Illinois; and Fayetteville, Arkansas; investigations were ongoing and no connection between the cases had been established.
