North Carolina Central Blanks Howard 34-0: Jones Throws Two Touchdown Passes as Defense Allows Just 114 Yards
The North Carolina Central University football team beat Howard University 34-0 on the afternoon of October 31 at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, extending its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) winning streak.
Quarterback Joshua Jones threw two touchdown passes, and the Eagles' defense held Howard to just 114 total yards, the key to the shutout. The win was NCCU's second straight, improving the Eagles to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the MEAC; Howard fell to 4-5 and 1-1 in conference play. NCCU's defense ranks among the national leaders in forcing turnovers this season and again smothered the opposing offense.
North Carolina Central next plays at Norfolk State on November 7, with kickoff at noon on ESPN+.
