Spire Missouri Files Rate Case: Western Residential Bills Would Rise About $10 a Month, or 11%, If Approved as Filed
In St. Louis, Missouri, Spire Missouri filed a rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission on November 2 to support continued investments in the safety, reliability and service of its natural gas system. President Steve Mills said the filing aims to maintain and modernize the state's gas delivery system while improving safety and reliability and reducing emissions; the utility serves more than 1.2 million customers in Missouri.
If the request is approved as filed, assuming current natural gas market conditions, the average residential bill in western Missouri would rise by about $10 per month, or 11%, while eastern Missouri residential customers would see an average increase of about $13 per month, or 15%. Under the commission's typical review period of about eleven months, new rates would take effect next fall rather than immediately.
The company says it has invested nearly $808 million since its last rate case to maintain and modernize its Missouri gas system, and in fiscal 2026 supported 24 publicly announced economic development projects in the state representing nearly $537 million in investment and more than 1,400 jobs. The filing remains subject to regulatory review and public comment, and the final increase may differ from the request.
