Smuin Ballet's 'The Christmas Ballet' Tours Three Bay Area Cities November 21–December 24
Smuin Ballet's The Christmas Ballet opens at the Lesher Center for the Arts (1601 Civic Dr) in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, California, on November 21–22, then tours the Bay Area: December 3–6 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and December 10–24 at the Blue Shield of California Theater, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, in San Francisco.
This year's edition adds world premieres by company choreographers Maggie Carey and Julia Feldman alongside favorites by founder Michael Smuin, Artistic Director Amy Seiwert and Val Caniparoli — classical ballet to carols in the first act, contemporary numbers to pop hits in the second. San Francisco specials include LGBTQ+ Night on December 22 at 7:30 p.m., an ASL-interpreted performance on December 11 and an audio-described matinee on December 23.
Walnut Creek tickets run $25–$130; tickets for all three cities are sold through Smuin Ballet and the venue box offices.
