Connecticut Governor and Lt. Governor Issue Statements on Hospitalization of Sen. Chris Murphy
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz released statements on November 1, 2026, regarding the hospitalization of U.S. Senator Chris Murphy. The statements were issued in Hartford, the state capital; the governor's office did not disclose the reason for Murphy's hospitalization or details of his condition.
Lamont said that just two days ago he was with Murphy doing what the senator loves most: encouraging Connecticut residents to make their voices heard and vote on Tuesday. He called Murphy the strongest advocate for democracy and someone who fights harder than anyone for the people of the state, said Murphy is a great friend to Connecticut and to him personally, and said he and his wife Annie are keeping Murphy and his family in their prayers, adding that he is sure Murphy will be walking across the state again very soon.
Bysiewicz said she was with Murphy on Friday evening, where he was energetically encouraging voters to participate in the upcoming election. She said she is glad to hear he is doing well, looks forward to continuing their joint efforts for the people of Connecticut, and wished him a speedy recovery.
