Patriots Rally Past Dolphins 24-19: Drake Maye Throws Two Long Second-Half Touchdown Passes
The New England Patriots rallied from a 13-3 halftime deficit to beat the Miami Dolphins 24-19 on Sunday, November 1, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, in Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season. New England improved to 5-3, while Miami fell to 1-6.
Miami controlled the first half, kicking a field goal in the first quarter and adding 10 points in the second to lead 13-3 at the break, with Malik Willis making his second straight start at quarterback for the Dolphins. New England's only first-half points came from a field goal.
The game turned after halftime. The Patriots outscored Miami 14-0 in the third quarter: quarterback Drake Maye threw a 43-yard touchdown pass and then ran for a touchdown himself, with Andrés Borregales' extra point putting New England ahead 17-13. In the fourth quarter Maye struck again, hitting DeMario Douglas for a 48-yard touchdown through the Miami secondary to make it 24-13.
Miami fought back late. With about two minutes left, Willis connected with rookie wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr on a 35-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 24-19, but the two-point conversion failed and the comeback ended there.
Dolphins rookie Jacob Rodriguez forced a fumble by Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism III in the first quarter, but Miami could not turn the takeaway into separation on the scoreboard. New England bounced back from a 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears a week earlier, while Miami, which earned its first win of the season against the New York Jets last week, let a 10-point halftime lead slip away at home.
