LAS VEGAS — Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas hosts its Halloween party, Costumes Under the Canopy, on October 31, a free all-night event with live music, a silent disco, and food trucks under the district's giant LED canopy.
The centerpiece is a costume contest at 10 p.m. on the 3rd Street Stage, held over three rounds with $8,500 in prizes: $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second, and $1,000 for third. The contest is open to adults 21 and older; registration runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beside the 3rd Street Stage, and entrants must show identification.
On the entertainment lineup, the band Alter Igor performs from 8 p.m. on the 1st Street Stage. Judges for the costume contest include Las Vegas columnist John Katsilometes and other local media and entertainment figures.
Fremont Street is the birthplace of Las Vegas's casino industry, and its canopy is the signature landmark of the downtown district. Organizers remind visitors to carry ID for age-restricted areas and note that downtown parking will be tight on Halloween night.
