长滩市启用测速安全系统：超速11英里以上将被拍下车牌、前60天只警告不开罚单

Long Beach Switches On Its Speed Safety System: Cameras Flag Drivers 11 MPH Over the Limit, Warnings Only for 60 Days
The City of Long Beach, in California's Los Angeles County, activated its Speed Safety System on October 7, installing speed detection devices at high-injury corridors and school zones to photograph the rear license plates of speeding vehicles. The city and its Department of Public Works announced the activation through the city's LBTV channel.
The program is authorized under California Assembly Bill 645 (AB 645). The devices detect vehicles traveling more than 11 mph over the speed limit and capture an image of the rear license plate. The city says the locations were chosen where severe and fatal crashes concentrate — high-injury corridors and areas around schools — with the goal of reducing speeds and traffic injuries.
The system began with a 60-day warning period, from October 7 through December 7, 2026: drivers caught speeding by the cameras during this period receive warnings, not citations; enforcement follows after the warning period ends. The city has published camera locations and program policy on its Speed Safety System webpage, and urges drivers to slow down near schools and on high-injury corridors.
