Atlas Sound Returns After 15 Years: Bradford Cox Releases 'Octoberland' With Self-Directed Video
Bradford Cox, frontman of the American indie band Deerhunter, has revived his solo project Atlas Sound with 'Octoberland,' released through the label 4AD — his first song under the Atlas Sound name in 15 years.
The single arrives with a black-and-white music video directed by Cox himself, released on 4AD's official channel. The label also published the full lyrics, built around imagery of moonlight, orange flashes and night flight, in keeping with Atlas Sound's dreamlike signature sound.
Cox has gradually returned to public view, performing last month at Making Time ∞. Announced tour dates include the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, on April 1, 2027, the Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 14, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain, on June 3.
Atlas Sound has long been Cox's personal outlet alongside Deerhunter, known for ambient pop and tape-textured recordings; the new single marks the project's formal return after a decade and a half.
