A California WARN notice shows that Disney has filed for 159 layoffs at an address in the city of Glendale, in Los Angeles County, California. The filing, under the company name Walt Disney Parks & Resorts US, Inc., lists 1401 Flower Street, Glendale — the address of Walt Disney Imagineering's headquarters — as the site of permanent layoffs. The notice date is October 27, and the layoff effective date is December 29, 2026.
WARN notices are the advance warnings required under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act: employers carrying out mass layoffs generally must give at least 60 days' notice, which explains the roughly two-month gap between the notice and effective dates.
The filing gives a firm number to earlier reporting. The Los Angeles Times reported on October 28 that between 100 and 200 employees in Disney Experiences — the division covering theme parks, resorts, consumer products and Disney Cruise Line — were being laid off, with Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative arm that designs the company's rides and themed environments, and Disney Live Entertainment among those affected; affected employees were to be notified by the end of Wednesday, October 28. A person familiar with the matter told the Times the reduction stemmed from a regular evaluation of the division's priorities, investments and project timelines.
The WARN filing itself names no specific roles or projects, so the Imagineering connection comes from the address and earlier reporting; the filing covers only the Glendale site, and the total across Disney Experiences could differ from 159. As of notices current through October 29, Disney had filed no WARN notices in Florida. Disney reports full fiscal 2026 earnings on November 17, which may add more context on where Disney Experiences stands.
