加利福尼亚州洛杉矶县洛杉矶市消息：据路透社10月30日报道，洛杉矶与长滩港的雇主团体与海事看守员工会已同意把谈判截止日期从11月1日延长至11月5日，避免了一场可能扰乱全美最繁忙集装箱港口群运转的罢工。
太平洋海事协会10月30日表示，该协会与代表约250名海事看守员的国际码头与仓库工会第26分会将在联邦调解与和解服务局协助下继续谈判。看守员负责管控码头闸口的卡车与人员进出、提供码头安保并追踪过港关键货物，服务覆盖长滩港约85%的货物处理量和洛杉矶港约33%的货物处理量。
洛杉矶港与长滩港9月均创下单月货物处理量历史纪录，货物品类包括假日销售零售商品、人工智能数据中心建设设备与汽车零部件。一旦罢工发生，仅占港口工人约2%的看守员停工也足以打乱货物流转。此次延期让双方多出四天谈判窗口，也让正值假日备货季的港口供应链暂时松了一口气。

California: Los Angeles and Long Beach Port Employers and Maritime Watchmen Extend Talks to Nov. 5, Averting a Strike at the Busiest U.S. Port Complex
Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California — The employer group at the Los Angeles and Long Beach seaports and the maritime watchmen's union have agreed to extend their negotiating deadline from Nov. 1 to Nov. 5, averting a strike that could have snarled cargo flows at the nation's busiest container port complex, Reuters reported Oct. 30.
The Pacific Maritime Association said on Oct. 30 that it and ILWU Local 26, which represents about 250 maritime watchmen, will continue negotiations with the assistance of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The watchmen control and inspect truck and employee entries at terminal gates, provide terminal security and guard and track critical cargo, working at terminals that handle roughly 85% of cargo at the Port of Long Beach and 33% at the Port of Los Angeles.
Both ports reported all-time cargo volume records in September, with shipments including retail goods for holiday sales, equipment for AI data center construction and auto parts. Although the watchmen make up only about 2% of port workers, a walkout could still have disrupted cargo flows. The extension gives both sides four more days of talks and temporary relief for supply chains in the holiday stocking season.
