Adam Spadola Wins Nomination Vote in New Castle County, Delaware, to Fill County Executive Vacancy Caused by Meyer's Election as Governor
The New Castle County Council in Delaware voted on October 29-30 to nominate local Republican leader Adam Spadola to fill the county executive seat left vacant after former executive Matt Meyer was elected governor, with a final confirmation vote expected in the coming weeks. Spadola has served in party and community roles and supports balanced development, transparent budgeting and public safety.
The interim appointment will run through 2026, when voters will elect a full-term county executive. The county Democratic Party questioned whether the choice reflects residents' will, while Spadola said he will cooperate fully with the council and keep county services running smoothly.
